Aces help Person JVs sweep Warriors

Abby Sharlow notched five consecutive first-set aces. She recorded her lone kill to give Person an 11-5 advantage, then pushed her team’s lead to 16-5 with a deadly stretch from the service line.

Paige Jay led the Rockets with three kills. Hawkins, Emma Suitt, Hanna England and Jacey Fletcher each recorded one.

Outside of two early second-set deficits, Person never trailed the visiting Warriors (2-7).

The Rockets head to Elon for a rematch on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

PHS escapes Burlington with three-set victory

Person came out on the wrong end of a three-set matchup on Aug. 30 against Cedar Ridge.

Tuesday night in Burlington was a different story.

The Rockets rebounded from a grueling second-set loss to down Walter M. Williams, 25-19, 25-27, 15-6.

Neither team had stats available.

Person travels to Hillsborough today at 5 p.m. for a rematch with the Red Wolves (10-4, 6-0), who gave Person its lone loss of the season.
