PHS golfers finish third in home match

Haley Thomas led Person by carding a 51, while Angela Flores and Corie Hawn scored 55s to round out the team score. Riley Carver and Kaytlin Phillips shot 59s to complete unofficial scores.

“We are so close to winning a match,” Rockets’ head coach Lynn Ward said. “To be within a few shots of the lead is a reflection of the work put in. The program has come a long ways, from continual cellar-dweller to challenging for the lead in the conference.”

Ward highlighted that with just two regular-season matches and the conference tournament remaining, Thomas is almost a lock for regionals. If Thomas and two of her teammates qualify for regionals, Person could cross off another landmark – making regionals as a team.
