The Roxboro Community School JV volleyball team used a pair of early-set runs to pull away from Voyager Academy Wednesday afternoon, never letting its lead get smaller than three points in a 25-14, 25-12 sweep.
The Bulldogs (3-5), who won their third consecutive match, never trailed.
RCS’s Keeley Whitfield served up an ace and slammed down a kill, starting a 4-0 run in the first set. Her second ace was the Bulldogs’ final point of a five-point swing to begin the second.
Carmela Peeples anchored a deadly service game for RCS with a team-high five aces. The Bulldogs combined for 14, while the Vikings (0-1) did not record a single one.
Terri Lynn Davis and Madison Solomon each smacked an RCS-high two kills. Peeples, Whitfield, Baylee Rae Long, Vivi Carcamo and Addison Martin each registered one, giving every Bulldog at least one kill.
RCS played significantly crisper volleyball in the second set, committing just five errors to Voyager’s 11.
The Bulldogs return home on Sept. 23, when they host River Mill Academy at 5 p.m.
