Charles Lacy “Buck” Saunders age 62, of 6071 Dirgie Mine Road, Roxboro, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 23, 2023 while fishing.
Mr. Saunders was born May 7, 1960 in Person County, son of the late Claude Lacy “Bozo” Saunders and Dorothy Ann Yancey Saunders who survives, and was husband of 33 years to the late Brenda Gail Oakley Saunders. He was retired from Duke Energy, was owner/operator of Dirgie Mine Welding, and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church.
Buck enjoyed riding his motorcycle Black Betty, fishing, gardening, his dog and cats, and being with his loved ones and friends.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two sisters, Connie Buchanan and husband, Victor, Beverly Harris and husband, Glenn, step-daughter, Jennifer Claiborne and husband, Ajay Chauhan, granddaughter, Mona Mohamed, nieces and nephews, Brook, Jonathan, Wesley, Adrianna, and Sullivan Toone, girlfriend, Teresa Warren, beloved dog, Tincey, and cats Allie and Toby.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023 at Olive Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Cline and Pastor Freddie Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Olive Branch Baptist Church and other times at the home of his mother, 87 Olive Branch Road, Roxboro. Pallbearers will be Charles Beaudry, Andy Elliott, Chuck Jones, Greyson Puryear, Bruce Stone, and Wesley Toone. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Toone, and Emery Young.
Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protection Society, P.O. Box 291, Roxboro, NC 27573.
